We do the same thing with God. We try and hide our heart or we tell our self that our sin really wasn’t that bad. Not only do we hide our sin from ourselves, we try and hide our sin from God; even when we know we really can’t hide anything from Him. Not getting real with God only brings inner guilt or denial of the seriousness of our sin. We need to remember that our sin is damaging to us whether we try and hide it or not, and it hurts our relationship with Christ. We need to confess our sin daily to Jesus and learn to live in a complete openness with Him. Hiding didn’t work well with Adam and Eve and it won’t work for us either.
Job asked the following question:
Did I hide my sin the way Adam did, or conceal my guilt behind closed doors?
Job 31:33

Hiding our sin just puts a barrier up between us and God. When we hide it we begin to turn away and go our own way. Even though we know He is still there and waiting for us to embrace Him.
